  • Fight Spam With Spam

We've all gotten those Nigerian Scam emails at least once. My Blackberry chirps at least twice a day with a notification (in terrible English, by the way) that I've won something, or that someone in Africa is in need of my help moving large sums of money. I've got so many of them tucked away in my spam folder and it's getting kind of annoying. So I've decided to start spamming the spammers. For example, I'll respond to something like this:

    with something like this:

When I started doing that, my level of spam per day started to decline. Maybe I taught them how if feels for something like that to come into your inbox and they stopped. I guess that makes me a some kind of anti-spam hero. I like the sound of that.

Maybe I can start an anti-spam software company. When a piece of spam is found in your inbox, the software would automatically reciprocate a different piece of spam mail to the address that sent it. No, make that 10 pieces of spam. That would really deter them.

But I need your help. Send your full name, address, social security number, telephone number, and bank account number(s) to me, Mr. Ray Grange, in Kisumu, Kenya so I can start building my company. Please, I am in dire need.

    With warm regards, Ray Grange
