What I've been up to
Well, it's been quite a while, hasn't it?
Up until recently, this summer has been a blur. I've been busy working for the past two months. I work at a hospital at the front desk, answering phones and transferring calls. It's a pretty sweet job, and the pay is amazing. I've been able to afford things I could only dream about in the past. But as the summer winds down and people who I've been filling in for come back to work, I've seen a rapid decrease in the hours I work. It's no big deal, I have enough money for the start of school and for my upcoming vacation to visit my aunt down on the Jersey shore.
So now with severely reduced work hours, I find myself at a loss for entertainment. My videogame collection is beginning to bore me, and daytime TV kind of sucks. I figured I'd start working out to prepare myself for the gym (free membership at school for being an RA, yay!). I've decided I want washboard abs by Thanksgiving.
Speaking of school, I can't wait for the fall semester to start. I return to campus in less then a month. I go back a couple weeks before everyone else because of RA training. I hope that won't be too boring. Anyway, I'm excited to start learning again. I feel as if every say I spend watching TV I lose a half point off of my IQ.
I'm also very excited to see my girlfriend regularly again. She came down to visit me today, we had lunch at Friendly's and saw "Funny People," which was a lot longer than I expected. I wanted to see "The Collector," but she was too scared, haha. I enjoyed the day, and it was really good seeing her. I'm trying to get her to come on vacation with me next week, but she needs permission from her mom. Hopefully her mom says she can come.
That's what's been going on in my life lately, how are you doing?

Sometimes, I wish I was a girl.
No, not because I'm jealous of their pretty dresses, luxurious hair, or painted toenails. Not because they get a visit from their awesome aunt once a month (though I barely get to see my favorite aunt
). Sometimes I wish I was a girl because sometimes I wish I could just slap a girl across the face. But apparently, as a young Mr. Christopher Brown recently demonstrated, a man committing an act of violence against a woman is frowned upon in our society.
For instance today, whilst in the dining commons, minding my own business and filling a cup with Powerade, a young woman bumps into me. I thought to myself, "She didn't mean to, she just give me a shy smile and apologize, and I'll say 'it's okay.'" But when I look up, I see he glaring at me as if to say "watch where you're filling your cup with Powerade asshole, I'm trying to bump into people here."
Wtf? I didn't even get a sorry?
So, me being the gentleman that I am, I cursed her under my breath, shot her a look of pure malice, and continued on my way to my table. If that was a guy bumping into me and not apologizing and glaring at me as if I were the one at fault, there's no way I would have taken that (I keeps it real, son). The whole time I was walking to my table I was thinking "Ooh, you are so lucky that you're a girl. If I was a chick you'd be looking like Rihanna after a ride with Chris Brown." (Okay, no more Chris Brown jokes)
Guys, don't you wish that sometimes, when they really deserve it you could be able to do this?
So I don't normally condone violence towards women, but you have to admit, sometimes when the circumstances call for it, some girls deserve a smack in the face.
Guys, would you hit a girl if they really, really deserved it? Girls, what would you do if a guy hit you?

Fight Spam With Spam
We've all gotten those Nigerian Scam emails at least once. My Blackberry chirps at least twice a day with a notification (in terrible English, by the way) that I've won something, or that someone in Africa is in need of my help moving large sums of money. I've got so many of them tucked away in my spam folder and it's getting kind of annoying. So I've decided to start spamming the spammers. For example, I'll respond to something like this:
with something like this:
When I started doing that, my level of spam per day started to decline. Maybe I taught them how if feels for something like that to come into your inbox and they stopped. I guess that makes me a some kind of anti-spam hero. I like the sound of that.
Maybe I can start an anti-spam software company. When a piece of spam is found in your inbox, the software would automatically reciprocate a different piece of spam mail to the address that sent it. No, make that 10 pieces of spam. That would really deter them.
But I need your help. Send your full name, address, social security number, telephone number, and bank account number(s) to me, Mr. Ray Grange, in Kisumu, Kenya so I can start building my company. Please, I am in dire need.
With warm regards, Ray Grange

School, work, and everything in between
Now that the first week of classes is almost over, I think it's time to talk about them.
Social Psychology is by far my favorite class. It's scheduled for MWF 2:30-3:20, but the professor only comes in on Wednesdays and Fridays. So on Mondays, there's no class, unless it's an exam day. How awesome is that? And the class also seems interesting. He was telling us that we'd be doing experiments/studies on random people. Have you heard of the Lost Letter Experiment? If not, look it up. Apparently, we're going to do something like that. Fun, fun!
Spanish absolutely sucks. I haven't taken it for a year, so I have no idea what the guy is saying. And it doesn't help that I can't understand his weird accent. I've never head Spanish being spoken the way he speaks it. He sounds like that stereotypical cartoon character with braces. Think Neil Goldman from "Family Guy," but in Spanish. That's probably going to be my most annoying class of the semester. It's my earliest too, at 9:05 MWF.
What's shaping up to be the most difficult course, probably that I've ever taken, is Behavioral Neuroendocrinology, or for you simple folk, hormones & behavior.
It's really biological, and I haven't taken any biology since 10th grade (even then I wan't so great; I somehow managed a B though). This is absolutely not the field of Psychology that I want to get into, but I have to pass the class with a C or better to earn my degree.
Finally, there's the course that's kind of "ehh, I could take it or leave it." Child Psychology. Sometimes it looks to be interesting, but it's a long class (1:00-2:15 TuTh) and I really dislike sitting still for prolonged periods of time. Hopefully it will captivate me for an hour and fifteen minutes everyday. Probably not.
Other than that, I work a lot more than last semester. MW 10-1, TuTh I sort mail which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Finally, I'll be making some kind of spending money.
I'll be joining the gym next week, so I'm looking forward to working out. Apparently, Evelyn has a tennis racket and wants to play. When it gets a bit warmer, I'm going to buy one too, and get my Rafael Nadal on. haha

Who are you going to root for in the Super Bowl - the Cardinals or the Steelers?
Honestly, I won't know until the game starts. I've always liked Ben Roethlisberger, and I love Pittsburgh's defense, but I also like Kurt Warner (especially with the Greatest Show on Turf) and Arizona's high powered offense. My team (the Buccaneers) isn't there even though the game is at their stadium, so I won't be rooting too hard for either team.
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!
